Foreign Secretary Misri reached Nepal on a two -day visit

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri arrived in Nepal on a two -day official visit on Sunday. During this time he will meet with the top leadership of Nepal and discuss issues of mutual interests. Misri reached Tribhuvan International Airport at around nine in the morning. He has come here on the invitation of Nepal’s Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai.

According to Sources in the Ministry of External Affairs, he was President Ramchandra Paudel and Prime Minister K.P. Sharma will meet Oli and will call a courtesy of Foreign Minister Arju Rana Deuba.

Sources said that the Egyptians will also hold a bilateral meeting with the Foreign Secretary of Nepal in Sinhardar, later on the day. He will also meet top leaders of major political parties including Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and Nepal Communist Party-Maoist Center Chairman Pushp Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.

The Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement on Saturday that contact, development cooperation and other issues will be discussed during his visit. Misri will return to their homeland on Monday after finishing his journey.

People familiar with the matter said that the main objective of Misri meetings in Kathmandu is to prepare for the visit of Nepal’s Prime Minister Oli to New Delhi next month. According to diplomatic sources, Oli can come to India around 16 September. However, the official announcement has not been made.
