Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday announced the ex -gratia amount for people affected by cloudburst and sudden floods in Chisoti village of Kishtwar district.
During the visit to the disaster -prone village, he announced financial assistance from the Chief Minister Relief Fund as a solution to the affected people and also assured them of long -term assistance.
Abdullah directly reviewed the devastation caused by cloudburst on Thursday afternoon in which 60 people were killed, more than 100 injured and 82 others went missing. Abdullah said that the families of those who lost their lives in the disaster will be given two lakh rupees, while the seriously injured will be given Rs 1 lakh and a minor injured Rs 50,000.
For structural damage, the Chief Minister announced Rs 1 lakh for fully damaged houses, Rs 50,000 for severely damaged houses and Rs 25,000 for partially damaged structures.
Abdullah was accompanied by his advisor Nasir Aslam Wani, District Development Council President Pooja Thakur, Indrawal MLA Pyarelal Sharma and Ramban MLA Arjun Singh Raju, former Minister Sajjad Ahmed Kichlu, Jammu’s Inspector General of Police and Divisional Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner of Kishtwar and Senior Superintendent of Kishtwar and Senior Superintendent of Police and other senior citizens and police officers.
The Chief Minister, who reached Kishtwar on Friday evening, reached the village affected by road on Saturday morning. Expressing deep grief over the loss of life and property, the Chief Minister assured the people that the government is standing firmly with them in this hour of grief.
He also directed to immediately restore the necessary infrastructure in the affected areas. Abdullah also met the bereaved families and people affected by the tragedy and promised immediate assistance and long -term rehabilitation.
