R Ashwin made a big claim, CSK broke the rules to sign dewald bravis in IPL 2025

South African player Dewald Brevis is in great discussion these days due to his performance. At the same time, he is in the headlines once again but not because of his performance but due to his IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings. In fact, in the middle of the Indian Premier League 2025, Chennai Super Kings included South African player Dewald Bravis in their team. R Ashwin made a big claim about Brevis joining Chennai Super Kings. According to him, Chennai Super Kings also paid some money separately to sign Dewald Bravis. At the same time, Chennai Super Kings have given clarification on this issue.

Chennai Super Kings have tried to stop all controversies by issuing their official statement on the matter. CSK has made it clear that the selection of Brevis was done according to the rules of IPL 2025-27. The CSK said in its statement that these steps were taken under the IPL’s Replacement Players Rules, which allows the new player to be included in place of injured or unavailable players.

Let me tell you, CSK issued a press release stating that in April 2025, Dewald Bravis was contracted for a league fee of Rs 2.2 crore as a replacement player of Chichilgurjapneit Singh, who was selected at the IPL 2025 player held at Abadi Jauhar Arena of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Dewald Bravis was signed in full compliance with IPL Player Regulation 2025-27, especially the clause 6.6 under replacement players which is as follows. According to one of the paragraph 6.1 or 6.2, San Replacement player can be included on league fees which will not be more than the league fee which is given to the injured or unavailable player for the respective season. If the replacement player is signed during the season, the league fee paid to him will actually be reduced by the franchise matches during the season which was done before his register.

Ashwin had said that, I tell something about Brevis. He spent a very good time with Chennai Super Kings in the previous IPL season and many teams were showing interest in them. Many teams did not include him with him due to high price. As a replacement, they should have received the amount of base price, but you come in contact with the agents and the player says that if the money gets more, he will join the team. This is because the player knows that if the next season is released, he will get a great money in the auction. The concept of Brevis was that either more money was received, or they will register the name in the next season auction. CSK agreed to pay more money, so he came into the team.
