The BCCI has introduced a new serious injury replacement. This rule will be effective from 2025-26 season and replacement will be given for injured players in multi-day format. Rishabh Pant’s injury has inspired the BCCI to take steps in this direction. Under the new rule, if a player gets out of the match due to a serious injury during a multi-day match, the team will be able to replace the management with a similar qualification player.
Indian wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant recently suffered a serious injury to the England tour. During the Lord’s Test, he was hurt while wicketkeeping. At the same time, in the Manchester Test, Pant suffered a serious leg injury, due to which he had to be out of the field. Pant’s injury raised concerns for Team India in the Indo-England Test series. Due to this, now the BCCI has made a new rule before the upcoming domestic season.
What is Serious Injury Replacement Rules?
BCCI has introduced a new serious injury replacement for multi-day matches in domestic cricket. This rule will be effective from 2025-26 season and replacement will be given for injured players in multi-day format. Rishabh Pant’s injury has inspired the BCCI to take steps in this direction. Under the new rule, if a player gets out of the match due to a serious injury during a multi-day match, the team will be able to replace the management with a similar qualification player. This replacement will be implemented with immediate effect, for this, the approval of the selection committee and the match referee will have to be taken.
