CM will not go to the tea party organized by the governor on Independence Day, government gave information

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has decided to boycott the Governor’s tea party at Raj Bhavan on August 15, 2025. Kovi Chezhiyan of Higher Education Minister said that he would not attend the convocation ceremonies of Alpatappa University and Thiruvalluvar University on August 18 and 19. This decision has been taken against Governor RN Ravi, who has allegedly worked against the welfare of the state. The step has been taken after several disputes associated with the Governor, including sending the recently passed bill to the President instead of approving the recently passed Bill for the establishment of Kalanganar University in Kumbhkonam, delaying the formation of the university.

According to the Tamil Nadu government, in a case of the Supreme Court related to the university laws, Governor Ravi filed a copy-papatra, supporting the arguments of BJP leader Venkatachalpati, which exposed political bias. Kovi Chezhiyan said that the absence of vice -chancellors in many universities, affecting higher education in the state, is associated with the functions of the Governor. Yesterday, a doctoral student disregarded Governor Ravi to get his degree from the Vice Chancellor of the university at a convocation in Tirunelveli.

DMK Nagerkoil’s Deputy Secretary M Rajan’s wife, the student, described the “anti -Tamil and Tamil Nadu” stance of the Governor as the reason for this.
