Kedarnath Yatra has been stopped for three days on Wednesday due to warning of heavy rains in Uttarakhand. The pilgrims are being prevented from moving forward by installing barricades at Sonprayag and Jawari police posts. The district administration stopped the yatra from August 12 to August 15 as a precaution to ensure the safety of pilgrims. When about 100-150 pilgrims tried to forcibly break the barricades in Sonprayag, the police intervened and stopped them without any major incident. Rudraprayag Superintendent of Police Akshay Prahlad Konde confirmed that the situation came under control without any problem.

Rudraprayag Superintendent of Police Akshay Prahlad Konde said that about 100-150 pilgrims reached Sonprayag this morning and tried to move forward by arguing with the police in Sonprayag. The police stopped them and did not let them go. The incident took place after a video of a clash between Rudraprayag police and pilgrims in Sonprayag went viral.

He said that the district police is requesting the pilgrims visiting Shri Kedarnath Dham Yatra not to go beyond the district police post in Jawari. For this, the police had also installed barricading in Sonprayag. However, some pilgrims started pushing the police and tried to move forward by breaking the barricade.
