Bird flu alert was issued in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday and guidelines were issued to prevent the possible threat of H5 Avian Influenza. After the review, the Chief Minister directed all the concerned departments to ensure the safety of protected animals and birds and warned against negligence. Meanwhile, the state health department has been directed to submit a report to prevent the H5 Avian Influenza from spreading to humans.

In view of the possible threat of bird flu in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday ordered to increase security in all the zoos, bird sanctuaries, national parks, wetlands and cowsheds in the state. According to an official statement, the Chief Minister ordered regular cleaning of zoo complexes and emphasized immediate implementation of measures as per the Center and State Guidelines. Cleanliness measures, if necessary, include the use of blow-side and compulsory health check-up of all animals and birds.
He said that they should be given food only after intensive examination of animals, and to ensure complete safety compliance, the duty of employees in enclosures should be determined based on the level of risk. Adityanath directed that zoo employees, scientifically known as avian influenza, should be trained to detect and prevent its spread and should be equipped with PPE kit and security gear.

In addition, the Health Department has been directed to study the possible impact of bird flu on humans and submit a report to prevent the spread of infection to the general public. Adityanath directed to maintain continuous coordination with the Central Zoo Authority, National Center for Disease Control Center, Ministry of Health, Fisheries and Dairy (Bareilly) and to ensure timely implementation of their recommendations.
