Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh has appealed to Indian cricket not to play a match against Pakistan in the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 tournament to be held in UAE. Let me tell you, Harbhajan Singh was part of the Indian champion team that refused to play with the Pakistan Champion team including the semi -finals in the recently held World Championships of Legends.
India was the current champion after winning the first World Championship of Legends tournament, but players like captain Yuvraj Singh, Shikhar Dhawan and Harbhajan Singh refused to play India against Pakistan. Due to which Pakistan’s team reached the finals and lost to South Africa. The Indian team also refused to play in the group phase match against their arch-rivals. In the final, South Africa Champions won the title by defeating Pakistan Champions.
Harbhajan Singh told the Times of India that, the Indian team needs to understand what is necessary and what is not. This is absolutely straightforward. For me, the soldiers who are standing on the border, whose family Aks cannot meet them, who sometimes give their lives and never return home, their sacrifice is very big for all of us. It is a very small thing than them that we cannot stop playing a single cricket match. This is a very small thing.
Harbhajan Singh further said that, our government also has the same blood and water together. It is not possible that there should be tension between the two countries and we go to play cricket. Cricket is a very small thing until these big issues go to the issues. The country always comes first.
The former cricketer said that, brothers have stood on our border. Those who are protecting us, protecting our country. Look at their encouragement, what big heart they have stood there and imagine what would have passed on their family when they do not return home and we go to play cricket.
