Earthquake of 6.1 magnitude in Turkas, many buildings are lost

A 6.1 magnitude earthquake tremors were felt on Sunday at Balikasir, the northwest province of the Turkas, collapsing about a dozen buildings. An official gave this information.

The official said that due to the collapse of these buildings, at least two people are trapped in their debris. The earthquake was the center of the earthquake and its shocks were felt to the city of Istanbul, about 200 km, where the population is more than 1.6 million.

Serakan Sak, the Mayor of Sindirgi, told the Turki letter ‘Haberk’ that many buildings have collapsed due to earthquake in the town and four people have been rescued from here while rescuers are trying to evacuate two other people safely.

He said that many houses also collapsed in the nearby Golkuk village. A mosque tower also fell in the village. The Turki’s disaster and emergency management agency said that many low intensity shocks were felt after the earthquake, one of which was 4.6 of the intensity.

The agency urged citizens not to enter the damaged buildings. Turkas are sensitive areas in terms of earthquake and are often felt earthquake tremors. The Turki had a 7.8 magnitude earthquake in the year 2023, killing more than 53,000 people.
