Stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra appeared in the Madras High Court on Tuesday. He claimed that the police was trying to arrest him. Therefore, they should be granted transit anticipatory bail.
On Kamra’s claim, Justice Sundar Mohan directed him to appear in Vanur Court. From where Kamra got transit anticipatory bail. Earlier on March 28, the High Court granted Kamra anticipatory bail till 7 April.
Transit anticipatory bail protects an accused from arrest in his current jurisdiction i.e. interim security. Whether the FIR has been registered against him outside his home state.
Kamra is currently in Tamil Nadu. A case has been registered against him at Khar police station in Mumbai for comments against Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde.
Earlier on March 31, Mumbai Police reached home in Shivaji Park in Kamra. Kamra reacted on social media for reaching the police house.
Kunal shared his photo on his X handle and wrote- Go to a address where I have not been living for the last ten years. Your time and public resource is waste.

Three cases were registered at different places
3 new cases were registered against standup comedian Kunal Kamra at Khar police station in Mumbai. These cases are related to the controversial statement given about Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde. According to the information given by the Mumbai Police on March 29, the first complaint has been lodged by the Mayor of Jalgaon, while two different businessmen of Nashik have made the remaining 1-1 cases.
In this case, Mumbai Police has issued 2 summons for questioning Kunal Kamra. At the same time, a notice of breach of privilege against Kamra has also been accepted in Maharashtra Legislative Council.
Comedian Kunal Kamra, who was involved in controversies by writing Parodi Song on Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde, has been called by the police on 31 March. The police has so far issued two summons to them.
Controversy started due to Shinde calling a traitor
The 36 -year -old standup comedian took a sarcasm on Shinde’s political career in his show. Kamra parked a song from the film ‘Dil To Pagal Hai’, in which Shinde was called a traitor. He also commented in a funny tone about the partition in Shiv Sena and NCP through songs.
After the video of Kamra surfaced, supporters of Shiv Sena Shinde faction vandalized the Habitat Comedy Club in Khar area of Mumbai on the night of 23 March. Shinde said, ‘This person (Kamra) had commented on the Supreme Court, Prime Minister, Arnab Goswami and some industrialists. This is not freedom of expression. It is to work for someone. ‘
Meanwhile, Kunal Kamra said about the incident of sabotage- he would not apologize for his controversial comments about Shinde and criticized the sabotage at the place in Mumbai where the comedy show was recorded.
