The Uttar Pradesh government said on Thursday that it has demolished 130 unauthorized constructions along the Indo-Nepal border as part of the ongoing action on illegal encroachments, sealed 198 and issued notice to 223. On the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, action is being taken on illegal constructions in seven districts of the state in the last two months, including Idgah, Madrasa and Mazar etc. An official statement said that it targeted illegal constructions in Pilibhit, Shravasti, Balrampur, Bahraich, Lakhimpur Kheri, Siddharthnagar and Maharajganj, in which Shravasti topped the list with action against 149 encroachments.

District Magistrate of Shravasti Ajay Kumar Dwivedi said that according to the instructions of the Chief Minister, action has been taken against illegal mosques, Idgahs, madrasas and mausoleums built on government and private land within a radius of 10 km of Indo-Nepal border. So far 149 illegal constructions have been identified in Shravasti. The official said that notices have been issued to all 149 structures, 140 constructions have been sealed and 37 have been demolished. He confirmed that action against illegal constructions is still going on.

District Magistrate of Lakhimpur Kheri Durga Shakti Nagpal said that a total of 13 illegal constructions have been identified in the district, three of which have been demolished, 10 have been sealed and notices have been issued to one. C type, action has been taken against 45 illegal constructions identified in Maharajganj, of which 24 have been sealed and 31 have been demolished. 23 illegal constructions were identified in Siddharthnagar, out of which notices were issued to two and 21 were demolished. 25 such constructions were found in Bahraich, out of which five were sealed and 15 were demolished. Two illegal constructions were identified in Pilibhit, both were demolished. 41 illegal constructions were identified in Balrampur, one of which was issued notice, 19 was sealed and 21 was demolished.
