India’s new Ambassador to Bhutan will be Sandeep Arya, IFS 1994 batch officials are posted in Vietnam

Arya, currently working as an ambassador of India in Vietnam, is expected to take his new office soon. The Ministry of External Affairs (Mea) said on Tuesday that India has appointed Sandeep Arya, a 1994 batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer, as the next Ambassador of India to Bhutan. A statement by the Ministry of External Affairs said that Arya, who is currently working as an ambassador of India in Vietnam, is expected to take his new office soon. The statement said Sandeep Arya (IFS: 1994), who is currently an ambassador to the Vietnam Socialist Republic, has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India in Bhutan. Earlier, Arya took over as Ambassador of India in Vietnam in October 2022. He was Additional Secretary (Disarmament and International Security Affairs) and Joint Secretary (Europe West/AD) in the Ministry of External Affairs between 2019 and 2022. As ambassador, Arya last served as the Indian High Commissioner and Representative of the East African community in Tanzania between 2015 and 2019. Between 1994 and 2015, he held various positions in various divisions of Indian embassies in the Netherlands, Russia and Ukraine and various Divas of the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi.

Sandeep Arya was born in June 1971 in Kashipur, India and has received a Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering, Master of Technology in Nuclear Engineering, Master of Arts in Economics and Master’s degree in Business Administration. He likes to read about history, international relations and global development, listen to music and practice yoga. They speak Hindi, English and Russian languages.
