On Saturday, a special NIA court gave bail to the nuns of Kerala arrested for human trafficking and forced conversion in Chhattisgarh. The court accepted a bail petition of three people, including two nuns. Apart from both Nuns, Sister Vandana Francis and Preeti, the third accused Sukhman Mandavi has also been granted bail. The three will have to pay a bond of 50-50 thousand rupees and also submit their passports in the court. The NIA court has also stayed his leaving the country. Following the court order of giving bail to the nuns, activists of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), led by MP John Britas, celebrated outside the jail where the accused nuns are closed.

However, a day after the arrest, the families of two of the three tribal women strongly denied police allegations and described the arrests as politically motivated and baseless. Family members denied the allegation of forced conversion. The elder sister of one of the women said, our parents are no longer alive. I sent my sister with nuns so that he could do a nursing job in Agra. I had earlier worked with him in Lucknow. This opportunity will help him become self -sufficient.
