Two people of Assam arrested in Manipur for involvement in cyber crime

Two people from Assam have been arrested for joining the Interstate Cyber Crime gang in Imphal West district of Manipur. The police gave this information on Saturday.

An official said that both were arrested on Friday from near the Khuman Lampak area of the district. These people were allegedly operating cyber crime gangs using mule bank accounts.

Mule accounts are bank accounts that use cyber criminals to obtain and transfer money obtained from illegal activities. He said that he was a resident of Barpeta and Chirang districts of Assam.

The official said, “Those arrested are members of a criminal gang and were assigned to collect sensitive details such as Aadhaar card and bank account details of the people.
