New Delhi. The grand event of a two -day training class on the subject of “Disaster Constable Society Building” was started at the Convention Center of Jawaharlal Nehru University under the joint aegis of National Seva Bharti and Jawaharlal Nehru University’s Special Disaster Research Center. The purpose of this training is to encourage awareness, self -reliance and leadership of disaster management in the society.
The program was inaugurated by Lieutenant General (Se N) Syed Ata Hasnain, Member, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), with lamp lighting and inspiring statement. He said in his address,“Every citizen of the society should be alert and ready during the disaster, and institutions like Rashtriya Seva Bharti are making invaluable contribution to the nation in this direction.”
Chief guest Mr. Sanjeev Jindal, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs (Disaster Management), while highlighting the strategies of disaster preparation and civil participation of the government, said, “Community -based disaster management is the biggest need today, and such training camps are a big step in that direction. Institutions like IMD of the country are capable of giving information about disaster. They have made an odor to establish and use the local place, which raised the public. Prior to rain and cyclone, you get information. ”
The program was chaired by Mr. Ramesh Aggarwal, President, Seva Bharti Delhi. He underlined the functioning of Seva Bharati and the spirit of selfless service. He informed that Rashtriya Seva Bharti is a top coordination organization that works through more than 800 service organizations across the country. Under this, 44,121 service projects are currently operating. This organization not only plays a regular service, but also plays a leading role in quick relief and rehabilitation works during the disaster.
The ‘National Service Sadhana: Disaster Management’ special issue was also inaugurated on the occasion, which shared service related to disaster management across the country.
Major glimpses of training:
80 learners from different states of the country participated in this training class. The training outlines included:
– Identification of social concept and local sensitivity of disaster
– Human behavior, stress and shock management
– Security measures during riots, stampede and casual disasters
– Formation and leadership training of disaster management groups
– Quick reaction in practical practice and disaster
All India Organization Minister of Rashtriya Seva Bharati, Shri Sudhir Kumar, said in his address that “Disaster management has been a matter of Indian consciousness since ancient times. Chanakya has divided disaster into 8 classes in economics and describes the duties of the king (administration) and the people and all kinds of preparations for each class.”
