Congress MP Rahul Gandhi once again targeted the Election Commission of India (ECI) and held the Election Commission responsible for the party’s continuous defeat in the Gujarat assembly elections. Addressing Congress leaders and workers in Anand during the party’s ‘Sangathan Sujan Abhiyan’ camp, Rahul termed the Election Commission as ‘biased’ and insisted that it is necessary to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Gujarat on its main basis.

The Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha (LOP) assured the party workers that the top leadership of the Congress would consider their views before selecting candidates for the assembly elections. He also emphasized that the top leadership of the party stands with its workers in the state. After the party’s ‘Organization Sujan Abhiyan’ camp, Congress leaders and activists appreciated Rahul’s speech, as well as strongly criticized the Election Commission and the ruling BJP.
Congress’s Surendranagar district chief Naushad Solanki said that Rahul claimed in his address that the umpire was biased, due to which the party lost the 2017 Gujarat assembly elections. Solanki said that if you get dismissed again and again in cricket, then you start doubting yourself. But then you realize that you are not getting out due to your mistake. It is an umpire that is biased. Rahul ji said this and gave us confidence. He said that we lost the 2017 Gujarat election ECI due to the suspected voter list of ECI.

Solanki said that Rahul also compared the country to a temple, but claimed who would get the Prasad, it decides the BJP and the RSS. He said, “Rahul ji insisted that it is very important to defeat the BJP in its main stronghold Gujarat. He told us that the party believes that we have to work hard in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and some other states (to defeat BJP). He said that if we can beat the BJP in Gujarat, the party can be defeated everywhere.” Rajkot Congress chief Rajdeep Singh Jadeja said after the camp that Rahul has also asked party workers and leaders to raise the issues faced by people in various cities and districts.
