According to Foreign Secretary Vikram Egyptian, Maldives President Mohammad Muizzu has reiterated his country’s commitment on security issues. After a conversation between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Muizzu on Friday, Egyptian said that there was a mutual agreement to continue cooperation in important areas. Dialogue between Prime Minister Modi and Muizzu
During Prime Minister Modi’s two -day visit to Maldives, the two leaders held extensive talks focused on strengthening relations in areas such as trade, defense and maritime security. The Egyptian underlined India’s continuous cooperation with the Maldives on issues affecting regional security. He further said that the contact between the security officials of the two countries and the conversation at various levels is very fast. We will continue to work on any issue with the Maldives that can affect the shared security interests of the region.

Maldives gets credit limit
A major agreement signed during this visit will reduce the annual loan payment given by Maldives to India by 40 percent. The development is expected to reduce financial pressure on the island nation and shows India’s commitment to maintain the economic stability of its neighboring country. India also announced a loan assistance of Rs 4,850 crore for the Maldives. Additionally, the two countries agreed to finalize a free trade agreement soon with the aim of further strengthening bilateral economic relations.
