The Indian Embassy in Cambodia issued an advisory on Saturday urging Indian citizens to avoid traveling to the border areas amidst increasing armed violence with Thailand. This advisory has long been released after a rapid clash in the disputed areas, where the stress that has been going on for the last few months is now creating a danger of turning into a complete war. Advisory stated that Indian citizens are advised to avoid traveling to the border areas, given the clashes on the Cambodia-Thailand border. Also, Indian citizens have been urged to contact the embassy in any emergency.

Thailand -based Indian Embassy also advised not to travel to more than 20 places of many of its provinces, including Ubon Ratthani, Surin, Sisacket, Buriram, Sa Cao, Chanthaburi and Tratt. The struggle between South Asian neighboring countries continued for the third consecutive day on Saturday, and new controversies are emerging as both sides are demanding diplomatic support. Both sides are claiming self-defense and urging each other to end up enmity and start negotiations. In 13 years, at least 31 people have been killed and more than 1,30,000 people have been displaced in the most fierce battle between the two countries so far. The Thai Navy reported fresh clashes in the coastal province of Trat in the early hours of Saturday, making a new front more than 100 kilometers away from the main areas of conflict on the disputed border.

Tensions have increased since the deadly firing of a Cambodian soldier during a brief clash in late May. Since then, both sides have increased the number of soldiers, increasing a widespread diplomatic crisis that has already brought Thailand’s weak coalition government to the brink of collapse. The number of dead in Thailand remained 19, while the number of casualties in Cambodia increased to 13.
