Delhi High Court sought details of seats from Hindu College under textual activities, sports quota

The Delhi High Court on Friday sought details of seats from the Hindu College in the capital under the textual activities or sports quota for the academic year 2025-26. While hearing a petition requested to allot a seat to a lawn tennis player, Justice Vikas Mahajan directed the college administration to reserve a seat under quota for 2025-26.

Petitioner Rawat has challenged the college not to implement five percent courses (ECA)/sports quota. Delhi University has set the above quota for graduation admission.

Jeetendra Gupta, advocate of the petitioner, who claimed to be the gold medalist in the CBSE National Competition, said that the provisions related to sports quota are not being followed by the college.

He said that on the basis of the number of seats available in the college, it is necessary to reserve at least 47 seats for ECA/Sports Kota. However, he argued that only 20 seats (10 for ECA and 10 for sports quota) were reserved by the college. Gupta said that in addition, reservation in sports quota is only for three sports – basketball, cricket and football.
