31 runs away from making history in Tests, Joe Root, Jack in danger Jack Kallis and Rahul Dravid’s record

Former England captain Joe has been a power in root Test cricket. Since leaving the captaincy, the 34 -year -old root has been extremely impressive in Test cricket and is now on the way to break the excellent Test record of Jacques Kallis and Rahul Dravid. Significantly, Root needs only 31 runs to become the third highest run player in Test cricket history. Sachin Tendulkar tops the list with 15921 runs, followed by Ricky Ponting with 13378 runs.

 

Jacques Kallis and Rahul Dravid are third and fourth with 13289 and 13288 runs respectively. Root, whose names are 13259 runs in Test cricket, can easily overtake Kallis and Dravid in the upcoming Test against India in Old Trafford, Manchester. He can become the second highest run -scorer in Test history, leaving behind Ponting in the fourth Test. The Sheffield -born root requires only 119 runs, which can be easily achieved for a player such as the root. However, to become the most run -up players, they need time to leave Tendulkar behind. This is not out of their reach, but the Sheffield -born root will have to perform continuously for the next few years to break this great record.

 

Meanwhile, Root made a slow start to the five -match series against Shubman Gill -led team, but when the difficulties increased, he made a comeback and scored a century in the third Test at Lord’s. Due to his incredible century, England won by 22 runs and took a 2–1 lead in the series. Sachin scored 68 half -centuries in Test cricket, while Root has 66 half -centuries.
