Despite India being declared a host country, the tournament has neither officially scheduled the program nor the ACC has set a fixed place for it.
The BCCI has taken a tough stand against the annual general meeting of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) to be held in Dhaka on 24 July. Amidst the geopolitical tension and deteriorating position on the ground in Bangladesh, the Indian Board has made it clear that if the location of the meeting is not changed, it will boycott any proposal passed in the meeting. This year, the Asia Cup in T20 format is still hanging in the balance.

Despite India being declared a host country, the tournament has neither officially scheduled the program nor the ACC has set a fixed place for it. Although speculation is pointing towards being in September, the lack of clarity has further increased confusion. The BCCI’s strict objection to the place of the annual general meeting (AGM) of July 24 has further increased this chaos. A source aware of this development told ANI that India will not send its representatives to Dhaka and has already requested to change the venue. But the situation remains tense due to no response from ACC President Mohsin Naqvi yet.

The source told ANI that the Asia Cup could be only when the meeting is replaced by Dhaka. He said that ACC President Mohsin Naqvi is trying to put unnecessary pressure on India for the meeting. We had requested him to change the meeting site, but no response was received. If Mohsin Naqvi meets in Dhaka, the BCCI will boycott any proposal. Significantly, Naqvi is currently both PCB President and Pakistan Home Minister, and this dual role has made the political aspects of the Asia Cup preparations more complicated.
