Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the United Kingdom to sign the Free Trade Agreement and then travel to Maldives in an important visit to two countries from 23 to 26 July. Their visit aims to promote India’s bilateral and business relations with Britain and to improve the stressful relations of New Delhi with Maldives. The Prime Minister will start his journey to two countries from the United Kingdom on 23 and 24 July. He will sign the Indo-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA) as an important step in diplomatic relations between the two countries. The agreement is expected to affect most Indian products sold to the UK. This will also make the sale of British products such as whiskey and cars in India.

Negotiations had been going on between India and the UK for three years, which aims to improve market access and make trade easier and improve for both countries. The Indo-Bitten Free Trade Agreement is expected to increase a significant increase in the diversity of goods being traded between the two countries. The goal of both India and Britain is to create a strong economic partnership and promote overall cooperation by relaxing trade restrictions. Subsequently, Prime Minister Modi will visit Maldives on a two -day visit on 25 July, where he will be the chief guest at the 60th National Day celebrations. President Mohammad Muizu invited Prime Minister Modi to join the occasion.

This will be Prime Minister Modi’s first visit to Maldives since the “India Out” campaign of some Maldives leaders and the pro -China’s pro -China stance of Muizzu. Muizzu is now trying to improve relations with India. The visit is seen as an important opportunity to resolve existing issues, strengthen cooperation and show India’s commitment to its ‘neighbor first’ policy in the Indian Ocean region. He last visited Maldives for one meeting in June 2019.

Mujju visited India in October last year, which was his first bilateral visit to India after coming to power. In early 2024, Maldives removed Indian soldiers from aviation platforms and suspended agreements on helicopters. When Prime Minister Modi promoted Lakshadweep tourism on X, there was a dispute on social media. Three sub-ministers of Maldives made objectionable remarks, which further increased the crisis.
