Petrol-diesel 7 to 8 rupees expensive in non-BJP states, Hardeep Puri targeted Mamta Banerjee

Indirectly targeted the West Bengal government led by Mamta Banerjee, Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Puri reiterated that petrol and diesel prices in non-BJP ruled states are higher than BJP-ruled states. Speaking on stage with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Durgapur, Minister Puri said that petrol and diesel prices in BJP ruled states are Rs 7-8 per liter.

The minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, our government did not allow fuel prices to rise. In November 2021, May 2022 and March 2024, the central government cut off the cess on petrol and diesel by Rs 13 and Rs 16 respectively. Minister Puri said without naming a state or their leaders, “Apart from this, our BJP ruled states have also reduced VAT on fuel. Petrol and diesel prices in BJP ruled states are Rs 7-8 per liter less than non-BJP ruled states.”

He also appreciated the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, highlighting India’s remarkable economic growth. Puri said, “When Prime Minister Modi became Prime Minister in 2014, India was the tenth largest economy and today we have become the fourth largest economy under your leadership. In a few months we will become the third largest economy in the world.” He also highlighted Prime Minister Modi’s development works in West Bengal. He inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of several development projects worth more than ₹ 5,000 crore. These development projects are expected to have significant impact on the economy and standard of living of West Bengal.
