India’s most wanted terrorist, Jaish-e-Mohammed’s kingpin Masood Azhar is seen in the Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, which is more than 1,000 kilometers away from its Bahawalpur stronghold. According to India Today reportAPoison was recently seen especially around Sadpara Road area in Scardu. The area has at least two mosques, madrasas connected to it and many private and government guest houses. Known as a tourist center with attractive lakes and natural parks, this place is a low-profile place for the head of the UN terrorist organization banned by the United Nations.

The disclosure was made after the claim of former Pakistan Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in which he recently said that Azhar could be in Afghanistan. He also said that if he was found on Pakistani land, Islamabad would hand over it to India. In an interview to Al Jazeera recently, Bhutto said that if the Government of India shares information with us that it is on Pakistani soil, then we will be very happy to arrest her. Azhar has been the mastermind of several terrorist activities in India, including the 2016 Pathankot airbase attack and the 2019 Pulwama attack, killing more than 40 soldiers. Indian intelligence agencies are keeping a close watch on Azhar’s activities, while Jaish’s online platforms are deliberately spreading misinformation, re -using the old audio clips of its speeches, proving that he was at his long -time base in Bahawalpur.

There are two known establishments of Azhar, Jamia Subhan Allah, the headquarters of Jaish which was targeted by India during Operation Sindoor, and Jamia Osman O Ali, a mosque located in the densely populated area of the city, where his old house is also near a hospital. Reports said that 10 members of Azhar’s family were killed in India’s attacks on Jamia Subhan Allah. Restricted by India, US and United Nations, Azhar is considered responsible for several terrorist attacks in India, including an attack on Parliament in 2001. Once he was in India’s custody, when his companions kidnapped an aircraft and left Azhar in exchange for the release of the passengers. Soon after the release, Azhar founded Jaish-e-Mohammed.

This is not the first time Azhar is sent out of Bahawalpur. Following the 2019 Balakot air strikes, it was transferred from Bahawalpur to a secret hideout in Peshawar. Azhar is not the only terrorist leader who has received a safe shelter in Pakistan. Another declared terrorist and terrorist organization is believed to have been conducting its activities from a posh area of Islamabad, the head of the terrorist and terrorist organization Hezbul Mujahideen. He also has an office in another densely populated suburban area of Burma Town, where he is often seen with gunmen.
