Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said on Friday that the decision to provide 125 units of free electricity in the state is in line with the advice of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The JD (U) supremo made this comment at a rally in Motihari city, headquarters of East Champaran district, where he shared the stage with the Prime Minister. On this occasion, the Prime Minister also launched projects worth more than Rs 7,000 crore. Nitish, who was the longest Chief Minister of the state, said in the public meeting that people will no longer have to pay for electricity. After the departure of Sir (Prime Minister), we will come back (in Patna) and give necessary approval. For this reason, a cabinet meeting has been called in the day today.

Kumar, who expressed confidence in Modi’s charisma for winning the upcoming assembly elections and coming to power for the fifth consecutive time, said, “We respect him a lot and is working according to his advice.” CM said that earlier consumers used to pay a lot of money for electricity bills … In 2018, we made it smooth and easy. We are giving free electricity to the families of Bihar. Along with this, he said that 430 new projects of more than Rs 50,000 crore have been approved and we are working on them. The budget of 2025 in February has announced the establishment of the Makhana Board, the inauguration of the airport and financial assistance for the Western Kosi River.

The Prime Minister, with whom the Chief Minister has had ups and downs from the years, responded to this comment with folded hands. Despite the declared principle of NDA being against free facilities, this populist step is being seen as an attempt to blunt the Bharatiya Janata Party’s promise to give “200 units free electricity” when the RJD -led coalition comes to power. Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister, BJP leader Samrat Chaudhary has defended the move, saying, “This is not a free bailout. It is 100 percent subsidy given by the government.”
