People were sent to safe places due to volcanic explosion in Iceland

Local residents have to be sent to safe places due to volcanic explosion in southwest Iceland. The National Extension RUV has reported. The Meteorological Department of Iceland reported that the explosion began at around 4 am on Wednesday after a rapid earthquake on the Reczanes Peninsula in the south-west of the capital Rekzavik.

About 100 people were evacuated from Grindavic city immediately after the start of seismic activity. People were also removed from the internationally renowned ‘Blue Lagoon’ geothermal spa.

Local Police Commissioner Margaret Christin Palsdotir said the evacuation lasted smoothly and the campaign lasted for about 90 minutes. He said, of course, people have different opinions on whether withdrawal is necessary or not, but this is our decision and whose responsibility we take.

The Meteorological Department said that the lava that came out of the volcanic eruption is flowing with a crack, and that crack is about 700 to 1000 meters wide. This lava is flowing towards the south-east, but at this time it is not damaging any opportunity.
