Indian fertilizer companies IPL, Krubco and CIL have signed an agreement for the supply of 3.1 million metric tonnes of DAP fertilizer per year for five years from this financial year with Saudi Arabian mining company Maden, which also provides for five years of expansion by mutual consent. The agreement was signed in the presence of Chemicals and Fertilizer Minister JP Nadda.
India has once again shown its diplomatic fire. From 11 to 13 July, Union Minister JP Nadda visited Damam and Riyadh in Saudi Arabia. In this journey, he not just shaken hands, but confirmed India’s food security. The delegation of India also included Secretary, Department of Fertilizer and senior officials of the Ministry of External Affairs. He had the same priority for the long -term security of fertilizers such as DAP and urea. Along with this, both countries have also made a historic agreement which has given sleep to countries like China and Pakistan.

Indian officials said that this significant DAP shows a significant increase in the availability of fertilizer, which ensures the goal of food safety in moderate to long -term. China is one of the countries on which India has depended on DAP supply, and the government wants to reduce its dependence on this country for the most commonly used fertilizer in India after urea.

Without naming China, a source said that at a time when some countries are adopting a restrictive stance in fertilizer supply, Riyadh’s commitment shows that India’s friend and partner will continue to work together to meet the needs and cooperate on future investments. Indian officials said that Nadda’s visit has given further impetus to Prime Minister Modi’s extended strategic partnership with Saudi Arabia after Jeddah’s state visit in April. The two sides underlined their commitment to broaden the scope of bilateral relations, so that it would include DAP as well as other major fertilizers such as urea, which aims to ensure India’s fertilizer safety.
