Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s recent remarks on Odisha and accused him of insulting the culture and traditions of the state during his visit. Pradhan said that instead of making new allegations, Gandhi should have apologized to the people of Odisha for insults made by the Congress party in the past. He also accused the Congress MP of disrespecting the traditional clothes, the holy ‘Khandua Pata’ offered in honor of Lord Jagannath.

Talking to reporters, Pradhan said that Rahul Gandhi is not so knowledgeable. He speaks what his team writes for him. I would like it if he had apologized to the people of Odisha, because his party has insulted us so much. He came to Odisha after so long, he should actually apologize to the Oriya people. Instead, he gave another example of his ego. Whoever comes to Odisha, is offered ‘Khandua Pata’ as a blessing of Mahaprabhu Jagannath. When Rahul Gandhi removed ‘Khandua Pata’ and kept separate, it shows that he does not have any knowledge and respect about our culture and traditions. This is just drama.
