Aerial attack on monastery in Myanmar, tragic death of 22 citizens including 3 children

More than 20 common citizens died in a recent airstrikes on a monastery located in the central part of Myanmar, including children. This information was given to AFP on Saturday by a local resident and anti -military governance fighter.There has been a civil war -like situation in Myanmar since the military coup in 2021. Especially the Sagiing region has been the most affected, where the army has carried out air strikes on villages targeting armed groups.
The most recent attack took place at Lin Ta Lu village at around 1:00 am on Friday. An anti -military fighter reported that “there was a Buddhist monastery, where the internal displaced people took shelter. He was an aerial attack.”According to him, 22 people died in this attack, including three children, while two people are seriously injured and are fighting the battle of life in the hospital. He said, “People thought that it would be safe to stay in the monastery, but the bomb was dropped there too.”

Junta (military rule) spokesperson Jin Min Tun did not answer the AFP questions on the incident. A local resident also confirmed that the auditorium of the monastery was completely destroyed. He said that several bodies were kept in a car and taken to the crematorium on Friday morning.The person who was speaking on the condition of keeping identity secret, said that when he went to the crematorium to take pictures for the identity of the dead bodies, he counted 22 bodies there. “Many bodies had serious injuries on their heads or their limbs were severed. It was a very sad scene,” she said.
