Yes Milord: Ramdev, Patanjali and Court Court, after Ruh Afza, now what is the new ruckus about Chyawanprash?

Ramdev, Patanjali and court courts, these three names have become together. There is an old pattern of advertisements, complaints and fairy scolding from the court. It has been repeated so many times that the world is a matrix and we are stuck in a loop to become a reel. This time Dabur’s Chavanpras is at the center. The Delhi High Court has instructed Patanjali to stop spreading misleading and derogatory advertisements against Dabal Chavanpras. Dabur had complained that Patanjali is a criminal.

What is said in the petition?

Dabur’s petition alleged that ‘Patanjali Special Chyawanprash’ is especially insulting Dabur Chyawanprash and in general insulting Chyawanprash that ‘no other manufacturer has knowledge of preparing Chyawanprash’. According to the petition, this claim is derogatory for other bands. The petition claimed, “In addition, in advertisement (in relation to Ayurvedic medicine), false and misleading statements are made in which Dabur Chyawanprash compared in a derogatory manner.” Advocates appeared on behalf of Jawahar Lala and Meghna Kumar Dabur. The petition claimed that in the context of all other Chyawanprash in the advertisement, the word ‘simple’ was used and shown that they are ‘lower’. The advertisement also claimed ‘false’ that all other manufacturers had no information about the formula used to prepare Ayurvedic texts and Chyawanprash.

Hearing on 14 July

The Delhi High Court stayed Patanjali from allegedly broadcasting the alleged derogatory advertisement against Dabur Chyawanprash. A bench of Justice Mini Pushkaran accepted Dabur’s interim petition requesting Patanjali to stop the advertisement. The court has fixed July 14 for the next hearing of the case.

Patanjali and Court Court

It is worth noting that Patanjali has also faced the strictness of the High Court regarding his advertisement of Sharbat. In that advertisement, Swami Ramdev described Ruh Afja as a syrup jihad. Against this, this syrup -making company Hamdard court went to court. The Delhi High Court gave a strict order to Patanjali on this, after which the company had to withdraw its advertisement.
