Pakistan’s Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir gave a gynecology, saying that Islamabad would clearly reject any kind of Indian dominance in South Asia. Talking to university officials and teachers, Munir said that India’s postponing Indus Water Treaty is to cross a basic border that Pakistan cannot tolerate.
Following the decision given by the Permanent Arbitration Court in its favor last week, Pakistan is now calling on India to resume the implementation of bilateral water-sharing treaty. Experts say the decision has strengthened the legal position of Islamabad, but is unlikely to follow the treaty by New Delhi. The 65 -year -old Indus Water Treaty (IWT) empowers Pakistan over the water of the Indus, Jhelum and Chenab rivers, while India gives control over the rivers Ravi, Sutlej and Beas. In the month of April, India announced the cancellation of the Indus Water Treaty in response to the Pakistan -sponsored terror attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir.

This comment of the military leader came a few weeks after the two countries implemented a ceasefire after a fierce military conflict lasted for several days. Munir emphasized that Pakistan’s position on water rights represents a theory that is directly connected to the living needs of 240 million citizens of the country.

On the other hand, Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that the Government of Pakistan has decided to increase water storage capacity in the country. In such a situation, he has instructed potential departments to complete water storage projects faster. Sharif, while taking annoyance on India, said that it is necessary to take a decision on the security of water in the country as Delhi intends to make water a weapon.
