Naxalism is almost on the verge of ending in Gadchiroli, Maharashtra. This claim was made by the state’s Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. He also said that the state government will take decisive action against the people supporting the Naxalites. Earlier, an official statement said that the Gadchiroli police along with the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) arrested a Most Wanted Maoist commander during a joint operation on 27 June. The arrested person, Uncle alias Mannu Sulge Pallo had a reward of Rs 6 lakh declared by the Maharashtra government.

With this arrest, the total number of Maoists arrested by the Gadchiroli police since January 2022 has increased to 104, which highlights the effectiveness of the anti -Naxal operations in the region. Earlier, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that Naxalism has been a major disaster for poor tribal areas, due to which about 40,000 people have died in the last 35 years and many have become disabled.
