After a comprehensive talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Ghana President John Droni Mahama on Wednesday, the two countries expanded their relations to a wide partnership level.
Immediately after the talks, Prime Minister Modi said in a statement that the two sides have targeted to double the two-way trade in the next five years and India is not only a partner in Ghana’s development journey, but also co-female.
The delegation level meeting between the two leaders was held a few hours after Modi reached the capital of the West African country. Modi has reached Ghana in the first phase of visit to five countries. The two sides signed four agreements in several areas including culture and traditional medicine.
In the presence of Mahama, Prime Minister Modi said, “President Mahama and I have decided to give bilateral relations a comprehensive partnership status.” The Prime Minister said that both sides are unanimous that terrorism is an enemy of humanity and it was decided to further strengthen mutual cooperation to deal with this threat.
Modi said, “We thanked Ghana’s support in India’s fight against terrorism.” The Prime Minister said that the two sides expressed serious concern over struggles in West Asia and Europe and called for a solution to problems through dialogue and diplomacy. Modi said, “This is not an era of war, problems should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy.”
