The police gave this information on Wednesday. The incident took place in Bhayandar area on Tuesday. A video of the incident went viral on social media on Tuesday night. In the video, some attackers can be seen wearing Raj Thackeray -led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) mark.

A police official said that while buying food, a worker asked the owner of the food stall to speak in Marathi, which he objected to. Angered by this, the accused worker shouted at the stall owner. He was accompanied by some other people and he slapped the stall owner.

The official said that on the complaint of the stall owner, the Kashimira police have registered an FIR against unknown people under various sections of the Indian Justice Code and the investigation of the case is going on. Significantly, members of MNS are trying to emphasize the use of Marathi in commercial establishments and banks in the state.
