External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said that the Pahalgam terror attack was an economic war to destroy tourism in Kashmir. He said that India has made it clear that it will not stop nuclear blackmail by responding to terrorism from Pakistan. Jaishankar said on Monday that there have been many terrorist attacks from Pakistan in the last few years in India and after the Pahalgam terror attack on 22 April, there is a feeling in the country that ‘Bus, enough’. His comment came during a conversation with Newsweek CEO Dev Prasad held at the headquarters of Newsweek at the Forest Trade Center near the 9/11 memorial in Manhattan.
Pahalgam attack was an act of economic war
Jaishankar said that the Pahalgam attack was “an act of economic war.” He said, “It aims to destroy tourism in Kashmir, which was the mainstay of the economy. It was also aimed at provoking religious violence, because people were asked to identify their faith before they were killed. So we decided that we could not allow terrorists to work freely from punishment.
Inspired by a sense of fundamentalism
S Jayashankar on Monday pointed to Pakistan, saying that when terrorism is supported by a country against neighbor and it is inspired by a sense of bigotryism, it is necessary to publicly condemn terrorism. Jaishankar, who arrived on a three -day visit to the US, made this comment while inaugurating the exhibition called ‘Human Price of Terrorism’ at the United Nations Headquarters. The exhibition will be displayed at two places at the United Nations Headquarters from 30 June to 3 July and 7 July to 11 July.

The exhibition was inaugurated on Tuesday a day before Pakistan presided over the United Nations Security Council for the month of July. Jaishankar said, “When terrorism is supported against the neighboring country, when it is encouraged by the fanaticism of extremism, when it promotes all kinds of illegal activities, it is necessary to publicly expose it and one way to do so is to display the devastation caused by it in the global society.”
It is necessary to condemn terrorism in public when a country supports it
The inauguration of the exhibition organized by the permanent mission of India to the United Nations included ambassadors, senior United Nations personnel, officers and messengers appointed in this world body of various countries. The exhibition is seen as an attempt to gather global support for India’s campaign against cross -border terrorism from Pakistan.
The digital exhibition showcases horrific terrorist attacks around the world including the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts, 2008 Mumbai terror attacks and Pahalgam terror attacks. The names of terrorist organizations responsible for carrying out these attacks were also mentioned, including Lashkar-e-Taiba (LET) terrorist group and terrorists who have taken shelter there.
Jaishankar said in his address that we have gathered with “a sense of seriousness for the exhibition that highlighted the human price paid here.”

The Foreign Minister said that the pictures and scenes included in the exhibition tells the story of the life, each moment, each memory, each artwork and each word destroyed. He underlined that the pain of the families of the victims of terrorism “gives a clear reminder of our immediate need for our shared responsibility to fight all forms and expressions.” Jaishankar said that here in the United Nations, “We should not only remember” to work, protect and maintain them for those values and human rights that should be “committed”.
He said, “Terrorism is one of the most serious threats for humanity. This is contrary to all beliefs of the human rights, rules and criteria of the United Nations and how the nations should treat each other. ”Jaishankar, referring to the Pahalgam terrorist attack, said that five weeks ago, the United Nations Security Council strongly condemned a particularly fierce act of terrorism and demanded that its culprits be held accountable and brought to justice.
He said, “We have seen this happening since then. The response outline the message of not tolerating terrorism at all. The world should come together on some basic concepts such as no exemption to terrorists and should not bow down to nuclear threats. “The Foreign Minister said,” Any country sponsored terrorism should be exposed. Till now we have known well that terrorism is a threat to peace everywhere. This understanding should guide our collective thinking and response.
