This report of ‘Foreign Affairs’ has come in the midst of reports that Pakistan is trying to upgrade its nuclear arsenal in collaboration with China after Operation Sindoor. The report quoted US officials as saying that if Pakistan acquires such a missile, Washington would declare that country as anti -nuclear.

Any nuclear weapon holding a country which is considered a potential threat or opponent to the US is considered anti -nuclear. Currently Russia, China and North Korea are considered anti -America. The report quoted US officials as saying that if Pakistan gets ICBM, Washington would have no option but to consider it as anti -nuclear. No other country with ICBM targeting America will be considered friends.

Pakistan has always claimed that its nuclear program focuses on stopping India. Its policy has been focused on developing small and medium -distance missiles. Intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBM), which can be equipped with both atomic and traditional weapons, are capable of penetrating more than 5,500 km distance goals. Currently, Pakistan has no ICBM. In 2022, Pakistan tested the surface-to-surface-to-surface-to-surface ballistic missile Shaheen-III, which could penetrate the targets of more than 2,700 kilometers, which has led to many Indian cities.

America is looking at this issue with concern. Last year, Washington imposed new restrictions related to Pakistan’s long -range ballistic missile program.
