Strait of Hormuz: Iran runs Brahmastra, now will there be a fierce fight?

The war between Iran and Israel is no longer a fight for only two countries. Now it has become a global concern and India is also in its heart. If this war goes on long, then the supply of oil and gas in India can have a big impact and the best reason for this is the Straight of Hormuz that oil beat, which gives the world about 2 crore barrels of crude oil every day. India, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Kuwait bring oil from here. Now Iran is threatening that if the situation worsens, it will close this path. Iranian news agency Irinn quoted prominent conservative MP Ismail Kosari as saying that Iran Hermuz is considering closing the Strait, as the conflict with Israel is intensifying. This step will increase oil prices and risk the expansion of war.

What is straight of hormuz

Hormuz is the only sea route to enter the Persian Gulf. It divides Iran on one side and Oman and United Arab Emirates on the other side, and it connects the Persian Gulf to the Arabian Sea in the Gulf of Oman and the Indian Ocean. According to the US Energy Information Administration, about 20 percent of the global oil consumption flows through the drainage, which the agency describes the world’s most important oil transit chokpoint. At its most narrow point, it is 33 km (21 mi) wide, but the shipping lanes in the waterway are even more narrowing, making them sensitive to attacks and dangers of closure.

Iran-Iraq did not stop even during conflict

During the Iran-Iraq conflict between 1980 and 1988, in which millions of people from both sides were killed, both countries targeted commercial ships in the Gulf, known as the tanker war, but Homuz was never completely closed. Recently, in 2019, four ships were attacked near the Strait on the UAE’s Fuzarah, amidst the increased tension between Iran and the United States during the first Presidential period of Donald Trump. Washington convicted Tehran for the incident, but Iran denied the allegations.
