Capital Hili Hilly from Earthquake near Peru’s coast, one person dies

The 5.6 magnitude earthquake on Sunday, near the central coast of Peru, led to the capital Lima and the port city of Kalao Hill and one person was killed and five others were injured in the incident. The authorities gave this information.

According to the US Geological Survey, the earthquake occurred in the Pacific Ocean at 11:35 am local time. Its center was 23 km (14 mi) southwest of the port city of Kalao, west of the capital Lima.

Police Colonel Ramiro Klaauko told ‘RPP Radio’ that a 36 -year -old man died in North Lima when he was standing outside his car and waiting for a passenger and then a wall collapsed on his head from the fourth floor of an under -construction building.

The emergency operating center said that the treatment of the injured is going on in hospitals. The agency also said that some roads and educational centers were damaged. Peru’s President’s Office told the social media forum X that President Dina Boluarte is going to Kalao.

Footage shared by local media can see cars, houses and fallen hoardings damaged by debris. Hernando Tavera, executive president of Peru’s seismic institute, told the local television channel N that earthquake tremors were felt in all the districts of Lima.
