Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi is currently on a visit to Cyprus. During this visit, PM Modi has addressed the Indo-sprus CEO Forum. Addressing the forum, Narendra Modi on Sunday discussed India’s economic strength, development and capacity.
He said that India has done a remarkable digital revolution, in which UPI is 50 percent of all digital transactions globally. During this period, PM Modi welcomed the discussion on expanding UPI services in Cyprus as per the model adopted with France. He said, “Many countries like France are associated with it. Negotiations are on to include Cyprus. I welcome it. It has happened after six decades that the same government has been elected for the third consecutive time. There has been a digital revolution in the last 10 years. Financial inclusion has become an example of this.
PM Modi said, “Today 50 percent of the world’s digital transactions are in India through Unified Payments Interface i.e. UPI.” India is moving very fast towards becoming the third largest economy ‘. Prime Minister Modi said that India has become the fifth largest economy in the world and is moving towards becoming the third largest economy soon. He emphasized India’s commitment to the strengthening economic situation and the creation of infrastructure prepared for the future and underlined the major focus areas such as the newly launched manufacturing missions, marine and port development, ship -making and rapidly growing civil aviation sector.
The manufacturing mission launched by the Government of India aims to accelerate the development of the manufacturing sector, giving special emphasis on electronics, information technology, semiconductor, biotechnology and green development. The objective of this initiative is to establish India as a global center for semiconductor production and to speed up overall economic progress.
We are investing more than 100 billion dollars per year in the development of future -oriented infrastructure in India. In this year’s budget, we have launched the Manufacturing Mission. Our focus is on marine and port development. We are also giving priority to ship construction and ship breaking. A new policy is also being introduced for this.
