June 15- In the last 48 hours, at least 25 people died due to lightning in 14 districts of Uttar Pradesh. Those who died include women and children, many of whom were stuck outside during their daily tasks. The deaths due to lightning were reported from rural and semi-urban areas, where weak population was engaged in farming, traffic or domestic work. Officials have not yet released detailed information district -wise, but the most affected areas include Prayagraj, Kaushambi, Fatehpur and Rae Bareli.

On Monday, two people died due to lightning at different places in Gonda district. A senior official gave this information. District Magistrate Neha Sharma said that Kunal Sharma (20), a resident of Dattnagar Bisen of Sadar Tehsil area, went to get water from the hand pump near the house this morning, he was scorched due to the lightning.
The family immediately took him to Gonda Medical College where doctors declared Kunal dead. Sharma said that death has been confirmed due to lightning in the post -mortem. The District Magistrate said that in another incident, Ramdev Yadav (46) died due to lightning in village Kazidewar. He informed that financial assistance will be provided to the families of both the deceased as per the instructions of the government.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed deep grief over the sad death of the people and has instructed the officials that:
Provide immediate financial compensation to the families of the dead
Do a detailed survey of the disadvantage
Ensure that the injured victims get proper medical facilities
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday directed the concerned officials to start relief work in the districts affected by storm, rain and hailstorm on Sunday.The Chief Minister directed the district administration officials to visit the affected areas. He also directed to provide financial assistance to the families of the deceased and other losses. He said that the injured should be treated properly.Yogi said that the officers should conduct survey to assess the loss of crops and send the report to the government so that further action can be taken.
In which citizens have been urged that:
Do not go to open grounds during storm
Stay away from trees or water bodies located in solitude
Keep an eye on the official alert released by the Meteorological Department
Residents are urged to stay indoors during lightning activity and follow all the security protocols issued by the government. The state disaster management team is on high alert and coordinating with local administration for continuous assistance.
