Russia has handed over the bodies of soldiers and soldiers to Ukraine as part of an agreement during peace talks between Russian and Ukrainian delegations in Istanbul. Ukrainian officials gave this information on Friday.
Ukraine’s coordination headquarters for the treatment of prisoners said in a statement that Russia has returned 1,200 bodies and “According to the Russian side, the bodies are from Ukrainian citizens, especially military personnel.”
According to the statement, the work of bringing back the bodies was done with the help of Ukraine’s armed forces, the country’s security service, the Ministry of Home Affairs and other government agency. The statement said that now forensic experts will work to identify bodies. Earlier this week, Russia returned 1,212 bodies of Ukrainian soldiers and received 27 bodies of their soldiers.
The agreement for exchange of bodies of prisoners and killed soldiers is the only concrete result of dialogue held on June 2 in Istanbul. Russia and Ukraine on Thursday exchanged prisoners, including serious injured and seriously ill captives. However, both sides did not give information about the number in this regard.
