All local trains of Mumbai will be installed automatic doors, a big decision of Railway Board after Thane accident

Four people died and six others were injured when several passengers collapsed from a moving train on Monday in Thane district of Maharashtra, after which the Railway Board announced two important decisions. Executive Director (Information and Publicity) Dilip Kumar said that all the races under construction for the Mumbai suburban area will have the facility to close the automatic door. All the rakes present in the service will be re -designed and these rakes in the Mumbai suburban area will facilitate the closure of the door.

After the incident at Mumra station in Thane, the Central Railway said in a statement that the passengers fell from the local train due to excessive crowd. The train was going to CSMT station. Central Railway said, “The cause of the incident is considered to be a huge crowd in the train.” Also said that the police and railway administration are present on the spot. Senior Police Inspector Archana Dusane of Thane GRP said that when the passengers fell, a mail/express train was passing through the side track. He said that the police had received information, after which they reached the spot.

In Thane district of Maharashtra, at least four passengers died after falling from a crowded train on Monday morning. Giving this information, a police officer said that six passengers were injured in the accident. An official said that the incident took place between Diva and Kopar railway stations when the train filled with passengers was going to Kasara. Railway authorities said without confirming the number of dead, that the incident was probably due to the trains hanging from two crowds and their bags hitting each other as the trains were passing through opposite directions. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde expressed grief over the incident and assured that all necessary steps were being taken to help the victims and their families.

In a statement issued by the Deputy Chief Minister’s Office, it has been said that the Railways has started investigating the accident. He said that during the busy time the train was very crowded, many people were standing near the train door. The official said that at least 10 passengers fell from the moving train. He said that the guard of another train going to Kasara informed the railway officials about the incident. Adhikari said that all the passengers who fell from the train were taken to a government hospital in Kalwa.
