Karan Kundra, a well-known face of the TV industry, is seen as a contestant in ‘Laughter Chef’ season 2 these days. Recently, during a special conversation with Dainik Bhaskar, the actor shared his return, cooking skills and funny experiences related to the industry.
When will the shooting start, That was the only question
When Karan was asked that when the makers approached him again, how was his reaction, he smiled and said, ‘When would the shooting start, that was the only question. It is shot every week, sometimes even twice, then it was necessary to manage dates. As soon as everything was set, I arrived. Enjoying it and it is like a home for me.
What changed on the set?
Karan laughed and said, ‘In the first season too, a lot of new was learned, but this time Harpal Paji has become even more strict. In the first season we created isomalt, which was new in itself. This time football pizza was made, which had to fill the air. Now the level of creativity in the kitchen has gone up even further. Every time you are getting to learn something that had never done before.
It is not easy to impress Harpal Paji
When asked if he had made any special preparation this time, Karan said in a funny manner, ‘It is not easy to impress judge Harpal Paji here. When I came for the first time, it was just cooking, but this time I am trying to make something that he really likes. Now you have understood what not to do. The difference of flour, maida and rice flour has not been fully understood till date, but now it has come so intelligent that to make the judge happy, one has to focus on the right thing.
How many numbers will be given to yourself in cooking skills?
Karan’s confidence was worth watching. He jokingly said, ‘I give myself 10 on 10 in anything. Rather I give 15 on 10. If I do not rate myself, how will people do? ‘
He further said, ‘Confidence is necessary. If we do not trust ourselves, how will anyone else do? I always believe in giving 100% to my hard work. ‘
Why distance from daily soap?
Karan said, ‘So many lovely shows come, but for daily soap, a commitment of 6-7 months is required. I am still traveling a lot. There was a very good show offer in December, but I had to refuse because I was not free. It is not that I am deliberately staying away from daily shows, just the right project should be at the right time.
What is the plan about films?
Karan said, ‘Some very good things are happening. The arrival of OTT has opened the industry and big projects are becoming successful, which is also providing confidence to small budget films. Some of the best stories are getting discus, let’s see what happens next.
Which genre hasn’t explored yet?
Karan told, ‘I have done almost everything. I had a revision story for Amazon Mini, which was my dream genre. But our industry is so big that even after working 40 years, something new will be saved to explore. I like stories like ‘The Count of Monte Christo’. If I get a chance to do something like this, I will definitely do it.
Is the audience ready for change?
Karan believes, ‘The audience is always ready. She challenges us. If she likes an actor, she wants to see her in different characters. Thankfully I was never typed – neither Good Boy, nor Bad Boy, not only a man of reality shows. My audience is ready for every new surprise. ‘
