The Iranian Embassy in New Delhi on Tuesday said that three Indian citizens missing in Iran have been “discovered and released”. According to local media reports, the police in Iran saved these people from those held hostage in Varmin of Southern Tehran. Three people from Punjab were offered work and felt that they were going to Australia in April, but they reached Iran. His families alleged that he was abducted by a network of agents from Pakistan, who had demanded a ransom of Rs 18 lakh from each.
The Meher news agency of Iran said that the kidnapping of the three Indians was reported to the Tehran police on 1 May. The Iranian embassy in India on May 29 said that it was investigating the case of three Indian citizens, who went missing in Tehran about a month ago.
The missing Indians were from Punjab. The three persons, who hail from Punjab, northwest India, arrived in Iran to visit Australia on 1 May. He was reportedly promised to give him a good salary in Australia by a local travel agency. His kidnapping was reported to the Tehran police on 1 May.
According to the Tasnim news agency in Tehran, the three persons were later rescued during the police operation against the kidnappers at Varmins located in southern Tehran. The Iranian embassy in New Delhi said in a social media post that the matter is being carried forward by the Department of Consular Affairs of Iran’s Foreign Ministry in coordination with the judicial officials concerned.
