Thousands of monarchy in Kathmandu 4, on the occasion of Republic Day in Nepal, passed on the roads. The demonstration was held at Ratnapark, Kathmandu, where people from various districts participated in rally and demonstrations. The blue rally was led by Rajendra Lingden, president of the National Democracy Party (RPP) Ri. RPP by spokesperson Gyanendra Shahi said that this movement will not continue until the monarchy nor the Hindu nation is established in Nepal.

Security in Kathmandu was tightened in view of the protest. Republic Day celebrations were held at the President at the Army Pavilion. During the 18th Republic Day in Nepal, two rival political groups organized demonstrations in favor and opposition of the federal democratic republic system established on May 28, 2008. The 18th Republic Day was celebrated by organizing various formal programs across the country. On the occasion, President Ramchandra Paudel, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and other senior government officials attended a special ceremony held at the Army Pavilion at Tundikhel Open Ground. Cultural dances and music performances were performed by various local institutions of Kathmandu Valley at the ceremony. The historic announcement of the Federal Democratic Republic was made in Nepal on 29 May. It was announced at the first meeting of Parliament on the 15th date (28 May, 2008) of Jyeshtha month of Vikram Samvat 2065, with which the 240 -year -old monarchy ended. Since then, Republic Day is celebrated all over the country on the 15th date of Jyeshtha month.
