A complaint was filed against the MLC N Ravikumar of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Karnataka for making alleged Pakistani remarks against Kalburgi Deputy Commissioner Fauzia Taranum. Later, expressing regret, he withdrew his statement and asked it to slip a tongue. The union of IAS officers came down in support of Fauzia Taranum. Ravikumar accused the IAS officer of acting at the behest of the Congress party and allegedly said, “It seems that she has come from Pakistan.”
Who is Faujia Taranum?
– Fauzia Taranum is a 2015 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, who is currently working as Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate of Kalburgi district of Karnataka.
– He is recognized for his exemplary public service, especially during the 2024 elections, received the Best Election Behavior Award from the President of India in January 2025 for his outstanding work in voter list management.
In 2011, she was selected for the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) in 2011, she wished to join the IAS and in 2014 she achieved this target.
– His dedication to public service has been further recognized through initiatives such as promoting Kalburgi bread as a brand and re -introducing millet as the main food, for which he has received the Excellence Award in Governance.
– Kalburgi Deputy Commissioner Fauzia Taranum was awarded the award for adopting the best election practices for 2024-25. President Draupadi Murmu presented the award to the officer in the presence of Union Minister of State for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and Election Commissioners Gyanesh Kumar and Sukhbir Singh Sandhu at the McShaw Center Auditorium in New Delhi on Saturday, a day before the 76th Republic Day.
