The US may ban Pakistan’s Army Chief General Asim Munir. For this, a bill has been introduced in Congress. The purpose of this bill is to fix the accountability of military leadership regarding the arrest of former PM Imran Khan, especially former PM Imran Khan, on the political opponents in Pakistan.
The bill has been introduced in the US Parliament by Republican MP Joe Wilson and Democratic MP Jimmy Paneta. The proposal recommends a ban on Pak military officers under the ‘Global Magnitsi Human Rights Accountability Act’.
If this bill is passed, his property may be confiscated abroad besides the ban on General Munir and other officials. The bill has already been supported by 10 MPs like Democrat MPs Ro Khanna and Ilhan Omar and Republican MP Jack Bergman.
American visa of military officers will be banned
On passing the bill, the US will implement a ban on Pakistan’s military leadership within 180 days. Other officials including General Munir will be identified, who have played a role in political repression. These officers will not get American visas and their entry into America will be banned.
The bill also has a condition that if the army’s interference in power is reduced, then many restrictions on Pakistan can be lifted.
