Mohammed Shami not selected for the Test series against England? Chief selector explained the reason

The Indian team’s squad has been announced for the India-Igland Tesut series to be held in June next month. Senior player Mohammed Shami has not been selected in this team. At the same time, BCCI and Team India Selector Ajit Agarkar has explained why this veteran bowler’s name is not for the five -Test series to be played on England tour.
Actually, Ajit Agarkar has told that Shami has a fresh injury and this is a big setback for him and he is not part of the team due to workload.
Announcing the team for the tour of England, at the press conference, Ajit Agarkar said that his charge is not as much as it should be. We hoped that he would be available but it is unfortunate. He had an MRI and some new things came to light. At the moment he is not fully fit. Let me tell you that Shami has been out of Team India for a long time. He played the last red ball ball for Team India in June 2023. Which was the final of the ICC World Test Championship 2023. It has been two years since then and they are away from the Test team.

Significantly, he did not play professional cricket for almost a year since the World Cup 2023 final. However, in October-November, he played some matches of Ranji Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy. He was then selected in the team for a limited overs series against England in January and then he was also part of the team in the Champions Trophy 2025. He even played in IPL 2025, but was later dropped. Now the selectors told that they are not fully fit. This is the reason that the pair of Jaspreet Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj will be seen in England. He will be accompanied by Akashdeep, famous Krishna and Shardul Thakur.
