Iran US Talks: Iran-America, fifth round conversation in Rome, came close again on nuclear issue

Years

Arakchi told the government TV that we have just completed one of the most professional rounds of conversation. We have strongly explained the situation of Iran. I think, the fact that we are now on a proper path, a sign of progress in itself.

The Iranian and American delegations completed the fifth round of talks in Rome and there were some limited progress indications in the talks aimed at resolving the ongoing dispute over Tehran’s atomic ambitions. Both Washington and Tehran publicly took a tough stance before Iran’s talks on uranium promotion, but Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi said that there is a possibility of progress after several proposals were made by Oman during the talks. Arakchi told the government TV that we have just completed one of the most professional rounds of conversation. We have strongly explained the situation of Iran. I think, the fact that we are now on a proper path, a sign of progress in itself.

Proposals and solutions will be reviewed in the respective capitals and the next round of talks will be determined accordingly. A senior American official said the talks lasted for more than two hours and took place both direct and indirectly with the Omani mediator. The conversation remains creative – we have progressed further, but still work is yet to be done. Both sides agreed to meet again in the near future. We are grateful for their continuous cooperation of our Omani partners. The bets are high for both sides. President Donald Trump wants to reduce Tehran’s ability to make nuclear weapons, which can begin the regional nuclear weapons race and may also threaten Israel. The Islamic Republic wants to get rid of disastrous sanctions on its oil -based economy.

Omani External Affairs Minister Badr Albusaidi said on X that the talks between Arakchi and Trump’s Middle East Steve Witchoff ended with decisive progress. Prior to the talks, Arakchi wrote on X that zero nuclear weapons = we have an agreement. Zero promotion = We have no compromise. The time has come to decide. The remaining obstacles include Tehran refusal to send his high -enhanced uranium store abroad – which is the potential raw material for atomic bombs – or joining the discussion on its ballistic missile program.
