Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a big meeting about Yamuna in Delhi. It included Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Union Ministers Manohar Lal Khattar and CR Patil. The Ministry of Home Affairs said in a statement that Amit Shah held a meeting on the cleaning, drinking water and sewage system of the Yamuna, instructed to work from a holistic perspective. Speaking to reporters after a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Yamuna revival efforts, Gupta said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision is to clean Yamuna from its origin to its closing point. He said that the Center and the Delhi governments are committed to making Yamuna pollution free. We are working on the part of the river flowing through Delhi.
The Chief Minister told reporters that officials of the Ministry of Water Power and Delhi Government were present in the meeting. We are moving towards the goal of clean Yamuna. According to official reports, 22 km long of Yamuna between Wazirabad and Okhla in Delhi, which is less than 2 percent of the total length of the river, is 80 percent of its pollution.
